I am thinking of taking a holiday to Nerja (close to Malaga) in mid-August. What kind of temperatures would be common at that time and is the heat unbearable?
Seems to be rather temperate in Nerja due to the proximity to the Sierra Nevadas. According to this you should expect 20-30 degrees during August.

Certainly a lot more bearable than some of the nearby cities such as Granada or Seville which will reach scorching 40 degrees around the same time of year.
siesta during the day a must and ensure you have air con where you are staying...........despite the stats it always seems to be in the 30s in July and August and yes inland is worse!
What part of Nerja are you staying in?
This website gives a description of the weather in Nerja, and an average of the temperatures in August. http://www.nerja-capistrano.com/info/nerja_weather.htm
but if this doesnt give you the information you require, you can google weather in Nejra and will get lots of information.
Thanks for the replies! Heat doesn't sound too bad. I haven't booked accomadation yet, but if anyone knows any nice apartments close to the town do let me know!
If you've a smattering of Spanish, [broken link removed] is quite a good site for private rentals. Lots of stuff on buyandsell/daft.ie, too, but priced for the Irish market.
Expect to pay top dollar in August, anywhere along the costas...
