Can anyone clarify who my insurance contract is with - when policy includes online gp and prescription services ..

My insurer says I need to contact the gp service (a separate company ) if I have a complaint - and gdpr etc

When I contacted the gp service complaints and gdpr - they said the website email was not checked regularly - and I was waiting over 3 months for acknowledgement ..

The insurer takes no responsibility for the matter

Is my contract not with the insurer directly ?

Maybe your policy booklet terms and conditions might have something on this?

Emailing any doctor and not following up when a reply wasn't received before three months had elapsed seems a bit odd?

This wasn't emailing the doctor - it was emailing the company who operate the service and their DPO on multiple occasions over the 3 months

They later advised that the emails on their website were not monitored

I had asked the health insurer to contact them also - as they might have better way to communicate with them

Insurance only covers the cost of the provider - if you have an issue with the service provider they are who you would deal with
If you get an MRI in incents and VHI/Laya etc cover it directly, and there is a problem with the MRI scan, it is vincents you take it up with unless it is a billing issue where the insurance co said they would cover the cost but didn't

If there is a GDPR issue maybe go straight to the Data Protection Commissioner and cut out middle man.

Well said there

But the insurer is now able to provide all data including the doctor's - this would infer they are the data controller for everything and the doctor service is a data processor

Fortunately - when issues arose and extended delays - I gave the insurer my authority to contact their provider directly

The insurer and the outsourced gp provider are the same - not separate entities, despite trying to distract me - my contract for service is with the insurer directly -

Delay be insurer or their gp provider to investigate complaint

Delay 3 months for both to act on a gdpr request

New update

- Complaint now active with FSPO - mediation underway ...

- GDPR with DPC

Both unnecessary - but what options had I
