Hi
My husband had elective surgery in Hermitage private hospital which was covered by his Irish Life health insurance. Five or six hours after being discharged he became very ill and had to return to hospital.
After lots of tests they said he had developed an infection and needed more surgery. The surgery was done at Beaumont hospital because Hermitage didn’t have the facility for that particular surgery.
After a couple of days he was returned to The Hermitage. He was still on a lot of painkillers and could only walk a little bit with the aid of crutches.
He spent another week in hospital and Irish Life say this was convalescence and is not covered by his plan.
Can anyone advise what is the best course of action to take.
