Have paid deposit but not received contracts

I put a deposit on an apartment last May and have not yet received a contract. I am worried that this will not go through as the value of the property has gone up €50,000 since May. Is anyone else is this position or has anyone been there and knows what i should do?
 
Have you discussed this with the estate agent who sold the apartment and presumably issued you with a receipt?

Have you engaged a solicitor at this stage-it be worth having a word with them.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the booking deposit prevents the developer from selling the apartment to someone else, but I'm open to correction on that.

I would have thought it strange that you would not have signed contracts at this stage.
 
We received a receipt for our booking deposit. Our solicitor has been chasing the contract since last August but getting excuse after excuse. We called the agent directly and he its the same thing with him - he keeps saying when we paid our deposit it froze the price however has not given us this in writing. Do you think maybe they are holding off so people will panic and buy somewhere else leaving the agent to sell the property at a higher price?
