Hi

Just curious if anyone has gotten a late payment letter & only paid the €100?? I got one last week - owe €128 including fees and interest - still not sure whether to pay it at all or just to pay €100.

Either way I can just about afford to pay it but wasn't going to - confused altogether now about what to do

Anyone have any opinions not lectures ;)

Hi,
I went online to pay the bill and it only allows you pay the full amount.
Ie. if your bill is €128 this is the amount it will deduct from your card.

It's worrying people are so scrapped they cannot afford to pay the current household charge. It's going to be dreadful for those now struggling to survive on a daily basis when the full property charge comes into effect next year.
.

Yep, and to make it worse, the government for years encouraged people to get in debt & buy houses, and now when people are already in trouble with large mortgages etc. it punishes them even more with that property charge!

No lecture but opinion as requested. Pay the correct amount now or soon you may not be able to afford it. And then the stress of it is lifted from your mind and you'll stop all those nasty letters.

Then don't use a card to pay ! From the FAQ section in [broken link removed]:

"Payment can be made by cheque/postal order/bank draft made payable to “Household Charge". Send form with payment to: Household Charge, P.O Box12168, Dublin 1."

If I remember correctly listening to the old steam radio a while back, some people that paid just the €100 by what ever means afaik, had it refused.

Seems crazy but maybe they've seen the light now.
