Has anyone omitted to tell revenue that they owned property abroad

We owned a property abroad (UK) and sold a couple of years ago. We are now looking to purchase in Ireland for first time.

Has anyone 'forgotten' to tell the revenue of this and what checks if any are in place to UK or foreign land registries?


As we made little or no profit on our property it galls that we will find it impossible to get on the ladder if we have to be 'honest'

Please don't look for advice on evading tax here. If you think that you can get away with doing so then bear in mind recent long term backdated investigations into tax evasion and fraud as well as more recent ones:

Revenue may not actively check that self declarations are correct but this does not mean that they never will and, one way or another, a false declaration remains a crime and severly punishable if/when discovered.

Are you asking if you will be caught out? Hardly appropriate for this site!
