Has anyone been through the voluntary surrender process?

Hi all

Like many other people on this forum, I have a "problem" mortgage. Completely unsustainable, huge negative equity and huge arrears. My situation is complicated - much like everyone else's.

But I will spare everyone the long story and all the details. The key point is that I recently received a voluntary surrender form from the bank. This is the only option left. I have not been able to get anything from them apart from the "you will remain liable for the shortfall" line.

There has been a lot of talk and speculation about this and also the recent story about the "write off", but I have been trawling these forums and there is no evidence of what actually happened to people after the voluntary surrender took place. I'm guessing that it is because people do not want to broadcast this for various reasons, or sign non-disclosure agreements or this happens extremely rarely.

If anyone has been through the process I would appreciate some advice.

Thanks
