Didn't know where else to put this post......but.....

Went there this evening to eat......was served by the most ignorant young woman in the face of the planet.

Has anyone else ever eaten here?? Any problems with staff??

I certainly wont be going back to that outlet again.

People really expect better service.

No, yes and yes - fairly disappointed with myself to be honest

Should have, she had a little stereo on the counter and had it blaring - everyone was looking over towards her. I'd probably have been considered a legend if I said something to her.

Well they're hardly going to improve service if dissatisfied customers don't make their complaints known.

They might expect better service but, as you have shown, some are willing to compromise their expectations and pay for less without complaint.

Sorry - I just don't have much time for people who are faced with bad service/quality/value, grin and bear it and only complain (to others - not the people who count) after the fact.

I get the moral of the story.

Good. Pity a few more (in particular the habitual "rip-off Ireland" moaners) don't do likewise.

How would one go about formally complaining about the service at one of the fast food outlets in Liffey Valley?

I had a similar experience there recently where after queuing for 5 minutes I was informed that the fast food outlet was closed. This was 10 minutes before the official closing time of the centre. There were no notices to this effect and the person did not speak english very well.

I moved over to McD's and forgot about it till now.

I am wary of making a complaint over food, until I have consumed the food. I would fear for what they might do to the food out of spite.

Then again, having eaten just once in the Liffey Valley food court, it is had to conceive how they could have made it worse.

To the manager of the outlet, the owner of the franchise if applicable or the ultimate head of the Irish or international organisation if necessary.

I guess your complaint was about the hassle in queueing up only to be told that they were not serving any more? I take it you're not complaining about the employee's poor English given that they seem to have communicated the closure to you OK?

I am regularly astounded at the poor service and poor quality that people will put up with, particularly in Ireland! If you didn't complain about the service or the food at the time you had the issue or very quickly afterwards then you deserve what you got!
I just won't put up with bad or rude service. I WON'T give a tip and I certainly WILL complain to the manager. Any issue with food and the food goes back.
I've heard friends say they won't complain because they don't want to cause a scene. I don't think a scene is necessary. Usually a statement of fact in a polite way is enough for some kind of action to be taken. And if you complain and you don't like the action taken then don't go back.

I too am regularly astounded at the low level of service on offer, but there are exceptions.

Went recently to the Hard Rock Cafe in Temple Bar with the kids for a treat. They have those glass bottles of Heinz ketchup on the table and when I opened it, the ketchup came spraying out - not unlike Champagne!

Needless to say I was covered in the stuff - much to the kids' delight!

The staff reacted very quickly and the manager appeared instantly with her business card offering to pay for dry cleaning.

As I had to go and clean up, my meal was taken away and replaced with a hot one and we were offered free desserts.

5 stars for customer service!

Well done Hard Rock Cafe!

To add to my post above....EQUALLY...if service is good or a problem is dealt with properly...I am the first one to comment on good service...I think the feedback has to work in both scenarios!

Hi Clubman,

Just wondering could you get away without paying if the service is appallingly bad. I would have thought that if you had eaten the meal that you would still have to pay. Personally I complain whenever the service is bad when i am leaving and paying for the meal. even if you didn't have to apy for the meal due to bad service i would still pay as i wouldn't want to cause a scene.
