Harmonstown, North Dublin

Folks,
Anyone out there got any views/experience on the Harmonstown area? On passing through it looks nice enough. Am looking at a few properties around there, but don't really know the area. Advice appreciated!

Are you looking from the point of view of investment, or for your PPR?

You are aware that there is a DART station at Harmonstown, which would add to its attractiveness.

PPR! Dart station is certainly boosting interest levels but I know practically nothing about the area....

Well if you have seen the Van, the Commitments and the Snapper you should have an idea. Barrystown is based on Harmonstown AFIK. A lot of corpo housing in the area and not bought off the corpo. It is actually not particularly well serviced itself (Dart being the exception) but there are amenities close by for everything.
The area isn't very bad and has some lovely properties about but it has some very rough patches. Parts of the area get renamed as Artane. People often think Artane is a bad area but many say that is becasue people in Coolock and Harmonstown claim to live in Artane.

Actually Barrytown was based on Kilbarrack, 2 stops up on the DART line. The full postal address for the area known as Harmonstown IS Artane- Harmonstown is the name of the road that runs up to Edenmore so people from the area are correct in claiming thats where they're from. Also most of the houses have long been bought out by tenants and although the area wasn't great about 20 years ago its very quiet now. you'll still see the odd gouger thats been there for years but its fairly quiet. Whats the name of the road you're lucking at?

Just wondering if anybody has any opinions on the area around Harmonstown Road?
