Hard Brakes - Causes

the past couple of days my brakes in my car, a 1997 C220 goes hard while driving,, can be fine one minute and the then the next hard, like braking with the engine turned off no power, any ideas please

Could be the servo on the way out, expensive to fix, had similar problem on an Audi 2001 model and worked out about 1k to repair, going back about 4 years ago

1k for a servo ? Jebus !!! That sounds mental !

Could also be a loss of vacum because of a leaking pipe or poor joint.

Maybe the brake fluid needs to be flushed and replaced.

It does brake down and turn to crap eventually.

I know best case but we live in hope.
