Halifax Opts out of Irish Government Guarantee?

If Halifax have opted out of the Irish Government Guarantee Scheme- what protection does this leave deposit holders with this institution?

If they are covered by The British Government- what amount is protected?

According to this, they're still covered by the Irish Deposit Protection Scheme, €100,000 per individual.

Hbos is also being married off to Lloyds/tsb which will be completed in January. After that Her Majesty will own approx 40% of the new enlarged bank. So i suppose at that stage they are pretty safe.
