Halifax Increase Mortgage Rates

Halifax Ireland have increased all their variable and fixed rates for new customers by about 0.8%. [broken link removed]
Looks like they were getting bad press in the UK because their Irish rates were so much lower than the UK rates. Or maybe they just couldn't cope with such low rates ?

Crikey, thats a bit of a surprise. Looks like I just got in in the nick of time.
Transferred my mortgage to them from First Active because of high interest rates.

Only drew the mortgage down on April 30th so I should be still on the original variable LTV rate I was given. I hope so anyway.

They have put rates up again today. (for new applications)
Variable rate now 4.45% LTV 75 to 90% - it was just 2.7% in early May - thats an increase of 1.75% in 3 weeks.
They must not really want the Irish mortgage customers any more.
They seem to have withdrawn the help with legal fees for switchers too - but with those rates not many will want to switch.
