Hi!

Tempted to switch from Perm TSB to Halifax.Customer service in Perm TSB is awful, ignorant, rude staff.Had a chat with someone from Halifax, very friendly and informative.Give better rates than PTSB and have Visa debit card.My only fear would be switching to a non-Irish controlled bank.Is it riskier?Although our own banks aren't exactly top of the charts!!

I was treated very poorly by PTSB staff once they found out I was switching. Small issue with one DD and they insisted on applying penalties. But Halifax staff are much friendlier. Small problem with Credit Card and DD and they waived the charges without me having to ask!

Halifax Current Account is always top of the best buys so worth a look. I have one and have had no problems to date. I find them good to deal with. However they only have 50 or so branches which may be a problem for you depending on where you live. The security aspect wouldn't bother me too much. I think they are covered up to 100k etc
