Haircut gone wrong! what are my rights?

hi i went to a hair dressing salon last weekend to have my hair done for a special night out. I made it clear that i wanted a wash trim and blow dry. Being the hairdressers last client of the day she was anxious to get home as she made me well aware of. i noticed she was rushing so i was glad when it was finnished. i left the salon , not feeling very confident with my new look , it was only when i got home i was shocked to see the botch job she performed on my hair. it was chopped in layers on one side and none on the other , i didn't even ask for layers. i broke down, because my hair is important to me and my self confidance and image.when my hair looks good i feel good, but not this time. i immediately rang the shop, the manager answered, i explained the situation , he offered me a refund. i was so upset over this as i felt it didn't deal with my complaint especially when he offered me a bottle of shampoo as a good will gesture i was being brushed off. does anyone know what rights i have in a situation like this

Refund is about all you can hope for, given that they can't remedy the cut now (can they?). It's not like they physically injured you. I know you feel brushed off, but it sounds cut and dried to me.
 
Yeah I don't mean to sound blunt but he offered you a refund - what else can he do?
Believe me, I know exactly how you feel as its happened to me before and its awful when someone makes a mess of your hair but I really don't see what else the manager can do here.
I'm even surprised you got the offer of a refund as the manager didn't even see your hair and even at that, they'll usually just offer to fix it- happened to me and my hair was in an even worse stated after they "fixed it":eek:.
The hair will grow back in a couple weeks so just put it down to experience and a lesson not to let your one near your hair again!
 
I don't think there is a lot you can do. However if you are really angry, you should call in and let the manager see your hair. At least then he will know the botch job that was done. If this is not your regular salon, then just take your refund because presumably you won't be returning. I don't see what else you can get unless you earn your living by your appearance. Hair will grow back so any damage is not permanent. If it's your regular salon and you've been satisfied up to this , then maybe you could negotiate a few free hairdos. I had a perm go wrong years ago, now it was serious in that my hair fell out and there was some burning. However I had attended there for years, it was a mistake, apologies were given and some remedial work carried out. I got three or four haircuts free and as I have hair that grows like grass, all ended well. Fifteen years later I still go there. So calm down, go and see them and remember you probably notice it more than anyone else.
 
Have to agree with Brianne, make sure the salon manager sees your hair. The best you can hope for is a refund and some kind of continued discount for a while.
I'd imagine the salon owner would be willing to go some way to repairing the damage done and in fairness he\she has offered you a refund + free products, although it hardly makes up for your bad experience - at least they've made the effort.
 
thanks for your replys, i went and got it all cut off, i had no option it was terrible. ill accept the refund but i wont be going there again
