Hair salon disasters

If you receive a completely different hair colour to the one you requested in a hair salon, what are your rights? are you entitled to ask for refund after the event?

I'm not sure whether or not you're entitled to a refund - maybe others might know.

I'd suggest ringing the salon to make a complaint. Make an appointment to go back to have the colour you originally requested applied. They should do this free of charge (but ask first to make sure there isn't a charge). If you're unhappy with their response ask to speak to a manager.

A colleague's wife had a similar experience recently but she let her annoyance be known on the spot. Did you actually complain there are then? She almost regretted complaining because they agreed to re-do it - so she ended up spending five hours in the salon that day! Ring them up and see what they say, I'd hope they'd agree to re-do it for you too.

Either I am your colleague's wife blueberry or I just had the same experience. They re-did it on the spot but I lost a day for it! I also got a discount off the price.

Having said that I don't think you can complain about colour or cut after you leave the salon, otherwise they could just say you changed your mind.

I've had this happen before (albeit in a salon in Australia). I complained on the spot, they fixed it then and there and I paid nothing for the inconvenience......

Its a bit harder to go back after the event, but nonetheless I'd be forceful in seeking a fix and a refund.

I wasn't happy with blond highlights and they offered to re-do them. As I could not wait around any longer they took me again the following tuesday after I was finished work.

I did complain at the time but had another appointment after so I couldn't stay. I arranged another appointment to talk to them about the disaster and to talk to a more senior stylist. They have offered to fix it for me but I have no confidence in their expertise. They try to tell me it is the closest they could get to my natural colour which is auburn red and i'm now a mixture of brown/black with a purple/red mixed in. its awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell them you have no confidence in their expertise and ask for a refund. Then go somewhere they can fix it properly! I can recommend a good salon in Dublin if that helps any.

SAme thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. complained on the spot. THey tried to rectify it as much as they could on the day but still went back the following weekto say still was not happy. Have to wait for some re-growth for them to fully rectify it but they have promised me my next appt. free. Have confidence in the senior colourist who has promised to rectify the problem for me. Also they gave me a free shampoo to help get rid of the colour faster.

I told them I had no confidence in them to fix my hair and that I was goin to get a second opinion. Went to toni & guy and they were very helpful. I explained the situation and they said from looking at the colour it was put in incorrectly. Herman's has created a band in my hair because a base colour should have been put on my highlights first, rinsed and then the colour put on all over. They mixed everything in a bowl and put it on all over, now my roots are a different shade to the rest of my hair. I requested a refund on wednesday and the manager was meant to ring me on thursday. As yet she hasn't bothered !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The area manager contacted me and he apologised for what happened and was very nice to deal with. He also offered to fix it but i told him i had lost confidence in the salon. He then said I could collect a full refund in the salon. I'm happy now I got the refund but I still hate my hair and will have to pay twice as much to get it fixed.

my last hair cut (around October last) has just resulted in me having to get a very short bob. The girl thinned my hair out so much that it lost all strength and although my own hairdresser had been trying to save it - she informed me on Saturday that it's just too weak and I should just cut it off - so I did. An ugly haircut is one thing but damaging your hair indefinitely is entirely another - learned my lesson!. Although.... I was out for a drink on Saturday night with my new bob and was asked for ID in the pub - I'm nearly 30 - so that cheered me up!
