Haggle on new developments

Simple question, when you see apartments in new developments on sale, can you negotiate prices with the selling agents, or do they stick to the price list firmly?

Haggling is good and the result depends on the location, the developers cash flow etc.

A good indicator is to look around the site and see how many houses are either half finished or not started. If there are a few it means the develop does not have the cash flow and will likely take an offer.

We recently purchased a new home for 80k below the asking price.

Depends on the development but some new developments recently have had their prices reduced considerably so in that case, the builder may not take an offer. For those developments whose prices have not been reduced, certainly I would imagine most would consider an offer, doesn't hurt to ask!

At this time it makes sense to put in an offer - as they say the worst you can get is a "no" and the best you can do is save money - not really much of a down side as you still have the option to pay asking price if you want.
