Out of curiousity i checked wiki for more info. I think you will find it hard to come across many pubs like what you have in mind incork. On the other hand i may be wrong as i rarely frequent such places. The HIB is more to my liking.
Freds definintely, also the Bróg on Oliver Plunkett Street (cheapest pint in Ireland too), The Slate, The Oval on South Main St, Tom Barrys on Barrack street. Not all grungy but mixed crowds of all types.
