Ground Rent problem
I am attempting to help an elderly relative to buy out his ground rent .
He purchased his property leasehold a long time ago . Some years ago he carried out construction work without consent of landlord ( he permitted a relative to build a house in available space , having procured the appropriate planning permission ) Now land lord ( who has not collected rent for a long number of years ) is seeking an amount of 12.5 K for buy out plus 2 sets of legal plus 2 set valuers totaling over 18K.
Am I restricted from using a " Vesting Certificate " because of the construction carried out ?
Any other options available ?
Appreciate any assistance .
