Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone is with Greyhound Waste knows, do Greyhound Waste send bills? Either by email or by Paper. I am having a problem with them. My father is a customer, he is elderly, and was previously with Dublin City Council, before the waste service was privatised. He stuck with them basically because it was most convenient. I looked at their rates on their website:
€19 .50 Standard,
23.50 Family
26.50 Family Plus
He was concerned as he felt he was "burning through" his Top up credit. He didn't know what rate he was on, because they don't seem to send him a bill. I managed to log into his app and discovered he was being charged 38.90 a month and was also being charged 0.85 month transaction fee and 0.85 a monthly admin fee. It is very hard to find a phone number to call them on. Eventually I rang up and was told, oh he was on family lite rate, that was the rate we transferred all former DCC customers on to. Originally this rate was €20 back in 2012. It seems they put this up until the point it is now 38.90 a month now. He is elderly and a pensioner and wouldn't generate enough waste to justify such a high rate. I got him changed over to a cheaper rate, but I am concerned at how he was treated. When they do a price increase they send him notes saying that his bill is going up by €3 a month, but they don't tell him what his new rate is. Nor did they send him their other rate options in the email so he could decide to switch. They don't seem to send them any bill either, just a text telling him to top up his payment card.
The biggest concern I have is that he can't tell himself what he is paying every month. He is not tech savy, so he can't use the app. He just gets a text saying please top up your payment card. I'm wondering does anyone know if Greyhound are obliged to send paper or even just e-bills, so at least he knows how much he is paying every month. I am annoyed at how he was treated and I am thinking of complaining to someone who handles these things, does anyone know know who I might complain to? Is it the CCPC. I am very grateful for any help or advice. Thanks.
