Grease from BBQ Grills

As its nearly BBQ season again I thought I'd throw this question in, as my grills from my bbq are just a slight bit too big for my dishwasher I purchased a basin specifically for soaking the grills, Im not too pushed on pouring the greasy water down the drain but as there's no real alternative I'm just wondering is there anything I should pour down before or after the greasy water to make sure the grease wont clog up and possibly eventually cause a bit of a blockage.

To cut down on the greasy water, let the grills cool down so the grease hardens then wipe/scrape it off.

Pour a kettle of boiling water down a few minutes afterwards and if you are really concerned (but you would need to have an awful lot of grease) pour another lot of boiling water down a few minutes later again. The boiling water will simply melt the grease and take it further down the drain to a point where it shouldn't be able to cause a blockage any more.
