When did "the Government" become "Government"?
I remember when people talked about the government they would say things like "That is an issue for the Government". Now they say "That is a matter for Government" or "Government will have to deal with that".
"Government" should be used when talking about governments in general. "The Government" should be used when talking about a specific government since that particular government is the definite article.
Am I missing something?
