got gift from Harvey Norman with receipt and what to refund

Hi all, i got a dvd player/rewriter from HN from a friend. She gave me the receipt and said i could change it if it wasnt what i wanted. Its not as i was looking for one with a HD and HDMI connection. I have been reading elsewhere that HN wont refund goods even still in box with receipt if you are simply changing your mind. Can anyone give me advice on this asap as i have only got today to exchange it. It was purchased 3 days ago...

If she bought it in Swords branch you might stand some chance of getting an exchange.

Ring them and see what their exchange policy is if you are thinking of buying something.
 
okay so went in , and surprise surprise they wouldnt give me a refund. But they would exchange for something else...
