Speculation mounts that Gormley will lose Cabinet post​

I am certainly no fan of the government or John Gormley but it is ridiculous that a Minister could be forced to resign because of some agreement between a bunch of hippies who think that it is fairest to share the Cabinet seats around!!​

Seems a strange way to promote or demote someone alright. Either someone is qualified for the job or they are not.
Apparently Trevor Sargent was going to make way for Mary White also. Maybe that is why he had no hesitation in resigning last week.

Have just heard it mentioned on the radio that they changed the criteria for minister's pensions, so that they would qualify for one after 2 years instead of 3.
Therefore if the government stays for the 5 years, the new green ministers would qualify for a pension.

A bit OT, but why in the name of all that is revered should any minister get a pension simply for being elected for a couple of years?

No easy solution but I don't see why it can't be contributory in some way like every other poor eejit in the country.
