I was considering buying Gorenje applicances such as gas hob, oven, fridge and dishwasher, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them, with respect to reliability and quality?

Thanks

i know their dishwashers are made by bosch.most of the range are coming with a five year parts and labour warranty so shouldnt be that bad

Gorenje is a Slovenian brand. We had a fridge in one of our office kitchens for several years and had not problems with it. They are basic and I'm not sure who carries them over here.

Gorenje make appliances for most (in Ireland) better known brands and their own stuff is made to exactly the same standard.

My mother had a Gorenje dishwasher for close to 15 years without any problems.

Their website suggests that their products are not available in Ireland (Republic). They do list some stockists in [broken link removed] though - including a few in [broken link removed] (sic.).

hafele distribute them in ireland who sell only to kitchen manufacturers and retailers in ireland

It is hard to find reviews about these applicances on the internet so your replies are much appreciated.

That makes sense that they are only supplied by kitchen manufacturers as we have been offered these appliances by 2 different cabinet makers that we are getting quotes from. Really nice designs, good specifications and as mentioned above come with a 5 year warranty. They are not cheap, let's say a little less than Neff and more than hotpoint/indesit etc., so it is good to hear good reviews of them. Thanks

Gorenje seems to have been marketed as a premium brand in the UK and Ireland, so I found it interesting that prices in Hungary and other parts of CEE are frequently cheaper than Indesit, Hotpoint, etc. Over here, it's marketed as a direct competitor to these brands, but products seem to be the same.

I've bought several of their products over the years and have never had any problems. Their designs tend to be above average and reliability appears to be excellent.

they do a few different ranges from the contract dishwasher to the high end pininfarina range

Gorenje was a premium Slovenian brand in ex Yugoslavia that exists from 1950's. As someone who owned all sorts of appliances from Gorenje I will say go for it. My granny owned their appliances for more than 25 years without need for repairing, my parents too. Folks there still buy Gorenje appliances as their first choice. I would be very happy if someone tells me where I can find Gorenje in Ireland. I find Gorenje better product than most UK brands and on the same level as German brands.

They have a showroom in Kilcoole Industrial estate Wicklow, the manager there didn't seem to have a problem selling direct to the public. The Pininfarina and Ora-ito designer ranges are very pricey, but their other products are very good value.

I got a Gorenje washing machine from Drinagh Co-Op in Skibbereen in West Cork with 2 years parts and labour Guarantee.Very reasonably priced and so far so good!

hi,
just searched for info on Gorenje, and I came across this.
We bought our Gorenje fridge in 2008, from KitchenWorld in Waterford.
It was €1100.
We currently have a kitchen table propped up against the door of the fridge, as the door fell off this evening.
I'm going to see what my rights are tomorrow; hopefully their after sales service is better than the quaity of this particular model.. a retro one.
The chances of me spending 1100 euro on another fridge are borderline negligible!!
Anyway, I better go back to cleaning up the jars, milk, sauces etc that were in the door shelves. They're currently all over the floor.
