Hi

I have been using a yoga DVD received with special K.
I have begun to find it quite easy. Is there a more advanced one anyone could recommend based on weight loss.

Thanks,

B

Hi Barnes,

Have you thought of taking a 6-8 week course in yoga? I've been using yoga for exercise for several years now, and I started off by taking a short course in it. It is possible to teach yourself but I found during the course that I had picked up some bad habits and wasn't doing some of the positions properly. The teacher pointed these out and corrected me, and her advice and training has benefited me when doing yoga at home.

I've found Ashtanga Yoga by David Swenson (book) to be a great guide throughout the years. It's a ring bound book that sits flat on the floor, and explains each position in depth. I don't currently own a yoga DVD, but I've found user's reviews on Amazon very useful in the past.

Best of luck!

Hi!

I've been doing yoga for about 10 years (admitedly on and off initially but pretty much daily over the past few years)

I second the suggestion of yoga classes. If you're in Dublin the CDVEC's are a good value stop for yoga classes - c. €70 for a ten-week course. I'd also recommend Lorraine Brady's classes - more expensive at c. €90 for 6 weeks (I think) but she's good and puts a lot of effort into creating a nice atmosphere for the classes. She runs the yoga classes in St Louis', Rathmines, among others.

There are also many private centres around Dublin that offer yoga though I don't have any experience of them ... anyone else got good yoga classes to recommend?

Speaking of books, I'm currently reading and enjoying the KISS Guide to Yoga - a bargain I picked up at a charity book sale last week. A very easy, interesting read on the subject (though gets a little 'floaty' by times!)
