I have been looking for good sales people to sell IT (ICT) systems to sme market for months and its driving me nuts and the company bankrupt.Hired a few and they leave/dont work out etc, agencies fees are out of this world and no response from local newspapers ads etc.
Job is exciting and package is industry standard but sales is difficult as we all know but still.
Have you considered licensing your systems to a company that has an existing track record in selling into your target market instead of reinventing the wheel yourself?
The time of year may have a bearing on things. Summertime is a really difficult time to fill vacancies and to move jobs. People are away on holidays or planning holidays. I find anytime I'm changing jobs that February (been off for christmas and realised I hate my job) or September (been away for two weeks and realised I hate my job) are the best times to look for work.
I have been looking for a senior sales position in Munster for 8 months now. I have had 10 interviews. 5 companies didn't bother to even tell me I was thru to next round, 3 agencies told me position was gone (just after applying) and although they would put me forward for other worthwhile roles - no response from them. 2 Jobs offers which unfortunately didn't meet package requirements.
So it's not only employers who get the run around in the marketplace if that's any comfort.
