Good restaurants in Birmingham city centre

Am off to Brum for the weekend. Anyone have recommendation for a decent restaurant in city centre. Staying at Crowne Plaza in Holliday St. We eat enough Indian here so Mrs Simeon says she'd like a break! Incidentally, has Yates's Wine Lodge (Corporation St) closed?

Yates is closed since the Summer I think.

I've heard good things about Hotel du Vin, Bank Resturant and Cafe Rouge

O'Neills and Figure of 8 on Broad St. was always cheap and cheerful!

Thanks for the replies. Had a beautiful meal in Cafe Rouge .......(1) prawns (about 8) in a garlic/provencal sauce, rabbit with stewed prunes and a bottle of delicious house red plus (2) Grilled herb bread sticks, Quiche, desert and one beer ........ all for Stg 52. Great atmosphere and no rushing.
