Absolutely agree with you about storage but if you see a bottle in a shop you don't know how is was stored before being put on the shelf - it might be there for months, or put there 5 mins ago.

I don't think it is a big enough factor to ignore all online wine websites because you can't see how the bottle is standing / lying at a particular point in time.

It also probably depends on your pricing point - if I was buying a case of a Premier Cru from a top estate I wouldn't do it online unless I was 100% confident in the people behind the website - if I am buying a mixed case of youngish drinkable plonk then I'll buy online all day!
 
I purchase from a French company regularly enough - www.vinatis.com free delivery to Ireland with purchase of 18 bottles or over, have recommended it on AAM before and no affil, website is a bit hard to negotitate for non french speaking people but one can flick between the GB site and the french one. Never had prob with delibery, usually within 5 working days.
