I am travelling west from dundalk to Westport and want to stay somewhere on the N52 near Mullingar. Can anyone recommend a hotel on N52 near Mullingar or en route Dundalk to Westport?

Just outside the town located on the by-pass, this is a nice fairly new hotel with good restaurant and lovely leisure centre. Ideal if you want to avoid the town centre. Very popular for functions and weddings so if it's a weekend night check what's on and maybe ask for a quiet location.
The mid week lunch in the restaurant is excellent - bar is a probably a typical hotel type - lacking in atmosphere but comfortable !

Brand new hotel in a great town centre location. Ideal if you want to park up and take in a few pubs or restaurants on foot. Haven't stayed there but bar food is fine.
Bloomfield House Hotel is an older hotel in a nice lakeside setting a couple of miles outside of Mullingar on the old Tullamore Road. Nice leisure centre and a more relaxed atmosphere. Also very popular for weddings so again check for room location !
The Greville Arms is another right bang on the town centre - good safe restaurant - lively bar but never stayed there - heard mixed reports.
All of the above should be in or around €75 pps b & b - I recently priced around for family members who got 2 nights b & b plus 1 dinner in the Bloomfield for €149 pps
