Golf mk3 Problem

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out, I'm having a problem with my 97 mk3 (seems like a loss of power or something) and would like to bring it somewhere to have it connected up for a computer diagnostic. Where would the best place be in Dublin to have this done? Are there cheaper places than the main dealers?
 
Hi, thanks for the comment. How would I check if that is the problem?
 

Most mechanics will need to have this gear now to check for emissions for the NCT and tune up a modern car.
 
It's a 1.4 petrol. Is it an expensive procedure to have done (computer diagnostic) ?
 
Last time I got a car hooked up (this year) , Ford garage charged I think around €120 - purely for the diagnostic set up - and then whatever for the repair itself.
