Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I've had with a 98 Golf 1.8L for a while now. The clutch intermittently fails to fully engage, ie it sticks when I change gears. This seems to happen only at the beginning of a journey. By the time I get to work its fine. Anyone know anything about this problem. myvwlemon.com says that it is a common fault of 1.8LGolfs,but I have brought it to a garage , and they say its because of age, or misuse, or that i am a hypochondriac!

any help'd be great. thanks
 
Here we go again!! What do you mean by"fails to fully engage" Do you mean the clutch is slipping i.e engine revs rise but car doesn't accelerate or do you mean the clutch is dragging(failing to seperate) making it difficult to engage gears particulary when the car is stationary?
