Going to USA for a week

I'm off to USA for a training week with work.
But nobody seems to know if there should be any need for a work permit/VISA for this.
It's presumed that as I will not be paid by American dollars it isn't needed.
Does anybody know if I need a visa?
 
Have a look here: [broken link removed] BTW: I assume that the training is work related training - if so perhaps your travel then qualifies as a business trip and hence falls within the Visa Waiver Program. Bring lots of money to spend too as the dollar rate is great at the mo.

We've been advised to bring an invite letter from a US-based colleague through immigration.
