Going to Oz for a year - Can i claim tax back

Hi All,

My other half and I are heading off to Oz for a year and could do with any money we can get! Can we claim back tax already paid this year? We will both be working in Oz, will this affect the claim? Also, can we claim back any tax paid in Oz when we get home?

Myself and my husband did the year there a few years ago, and we were able to claim back our tax from Ireland while we were in Australia via www.taxback.com. It came in very handy as we got it paid straight into our australian bank account while we were travelling. We went over in September 02 and were travelling June-September 03 and we got the tax back in August 03.

Then when we got back to Ireland we claimed back our tax from working in Australia, also through taxback.com. Remember to keep your PPS no. from Australia (can't remember their term for it) as you'll need that to claim back your tax when you get back to Ireland. Also retain any superannuation statements you get.
