Going to New York .......... anywhere nearby to ski

I will be in New York and Connecticut for a few weeks in Nov and Dec and would love to spend a day or 2 skiing. Has anybody any idea of nearby ski resorts. I have googled it and have found details of some resorts but would appreciate personal recommendations

My bro in law lives in New York City and a few years ago we visited hime and went to Hunter Mountain for a few days skiing. It's approx 2.5 hours drive upstate. Have a look here: [broken link removed]

thats great teddyk. That looks perfect. much appreciated. there are a lot of resorts to try filter through (some v small) that is the best I have seen so far. many thanks
 
teddyk - where did you stay? I am thinking about the Hunter Inn? I have emailed Kattsilll Hotel but I imagine it is going to be very expensive !!!
 
Sorry, can't help with accommodation. Bro in law and a few friends rent a house for the season, so they can head up most weekends in December/January.
