Going on a 3 day week - Should i claim JB

My employer has decided to put me a 3 day week. I am just wondering should I claim JB for the other days? I am not too keen on using up my JB as I expect to be made fully redundant in the near future.

Any advice ?
 
Jobseekers benefit can be paid for a maximum of 12 months. After that if you may be entitled to jobseekers allowance but this is means tested. If you would qualify for the JA then it is probably worth taking the JB now.
 
Thanks missdaisy. No I wouldn't qualify for much JA, therefore I am reluctant to use up my JB too soon.
 
By not claiming now you're anticipating a redundancy down the line and further anticipating that you will be fully unemployed for 312 days after that! This is not logical in my view. What happens if you don't claim now and are made redundant, then find a job after, say, three months without exhausting your entitlement?
 
Ok clearly I am a pessimist !!

I have only been working for 2.5 years therefore I thought by JB wouldn't last long.... Clearly I wouldn't be entitled to the maximum of 12 months.
