Going from sick to jobseekers allowance/benefit

Hey I'm currently on illness benifit d past 4 months due to treatment in d work place I now feel I am ready to go back looking for a new job but am I entitled to apply for job seekers allowance/benifit while lookin for a new job as I still need money or how does it work??
