Facing a dilemma in that I have received notice that my position is being made redundant from the 31st of August. My due date is the 31st of October. If I elect to go on maternity leave say mid August (10 weeks before due date) will this protect me from redundancy until the 26 weeks are up?
Same thing happened to a friend of mine earlier this year,
She found out that she was able to take maternity leave sixteen weeks before the baby was due. Check the citzen's advice bureau website for sure..
That means you will be an employee until after your mat leave finishes, which means your redundancy will be calculated from then.
