gmail to thunderbird

Hi All
Just like a lot posts that I have read I too am having trouble with my gmail account I have been trying to set a thunderbird account using my gmail user name and password but it keeps telling me that my user name or password is invalid what do I do ???

Have you enabled IMAP in your gmail account? That's probably the most likely cause (or at least the least obvious of the steps).

After that, it's all relatively straight forward. This link might help.
