Glasses online?

I need a new pair of glasses and will be getting a eye test and prescription but I would really love to avoid the mad cost of frames in Ireland.

A quick browse online shows what seems like some great savings. In the past I've ordered contact lenses online without any problems but has anyone ordered glasses? And if so, did you try the frames on in an opticians before ordering online?

I've ordered several pairs of rimless glasses from . You can choose from eleven different lens shapes and specify the exact width and depth of lenses you require, so I just measured my older glasses and used them as a guide. They also have rimmed and semi-rimless frames, but I haven't tried them.

The glasses are priced in US Dollars, so with free shipping if you order more than one pair, and a discount code from the Money Saving Expert forum my glasses worked out at less than €30 per pair. All orders arrived from Hong Kong within two weeks of placing them. The lenses are fine and seem exactly the same as my normal prescription. The frames themselves are of varying quality-all are ok, but some feel a little more flimsy than those you might find in a high street opticians. None of them have broken yet anyway. Some of the nosepads needed adjustment, but this was easily done.

Overall, I'm very pleased with them. However, the glasses did come with a note stating that the company would not be responsible if they were damaged in the post and I've read a few complaints about their lack of customer service if things go wrong. So far I haven't had any reason to complain, so I can't personally comment on this.
