Glass for a PVC Double Glazed Window

My son just cracked the outside glass pane on a PVC douible glazed window. Can you just measure and then order the glass and fit yourself or does this have to be done by the 'professionals'?

If so, where is the best place to order the glass....from the window supplier or can you get it anywhere that deals in glass. Last time I did this in my mother's old house it was single paned and I used putty!!!!

Double glazed units are factory sealed to provide insulation - e.g. vacuum or special gas between the inside and outside panes of glass. The whole unit will probably need to be replaced. I don't think it's a DIY job.

By your name, you are likely to be in Galway. Did you ask the supplier? They have repair men on the road. Otherwise try Dalgan Wood in Shrule.The manufacture double glazed units.
