We're recently married, he earns 80K+, me approx 34K. We plan to try for kids soon and I'm not certain whether I'll return to work straight away afterwards or not. He suggested that from 2009 onwards that both our tax credits be applied to his salary alone, to save messing around later on. Any arguments against this? My independence and individuality may take a hit on this one, but nothing compared to my payslip for the next few months!!
Yes I trust him and we share everything anyway so that's not the issue. Even though it would balance out in the end I'd just feel like I was contributing less when still working, or something...
So is it a good, bad or indifferent idea from a cold-hearted, financial viewpoint?
