Gites/Houses in France

Just back from a very relaxing forthnight in France..

Booked boat and house through Brittany Ferries.
Just wondering if anyone has booked a house independently (looking for a larger choice) and what website (if any) they used. Trying to plan ahead for next year...

www.abritel.fr I have used this one, but also know of and if you are interested in the south of France, www.menton.com Be warned, you must book well in advance for the high season, and quite honestly when you take into account flights, or ferry, car hire and accomodation, its not a cheap option.

pretty expensive alright.
Looking for something reasonable close to a beach to sleep 2 families (2+2 & 2+3). Pretty hard to find something for that amount of people.

Yes, sadly though its a lovely dream to rent a villa with swimming pool and so on with friends, it may have to remain a dream, because its damn expensive.
