received a voucher at Christmas as a present, and was phoned by the company involved to be told that the voucher is only valid for 6 weeks...is this legal?

How did they get your number to call you?

I think they need to put that somewhere on the voucher, like Terms and Conditions and such.

maybe they are going bust in 6 weeks? my sis got a chartbusters vouchers for xmas and had to go spend it all the other day just i case!

Yes as far as I know. Unless some other expiry date was set out before now (e.g. in the terms & conditions). See here.
