gift to someone ill?

Hi, just wondering, need to give a special present, and I was wondering what to give. I am stumped. Something useful, perhaps something warm, comfortable or something entertaining, as not able to get up and about much? Any suggestions would be most helpful?

Maybe put together a gift basket containing some or all of the following (depending on your budget}:
Dressing gown
Pyjamas that don't particularly look like pyjamas (lounge suit?)
Covered hot water bottle
Slipper socks
Large mug with hot chocolate powder & marshmallows
DVD (or 2) of feel-good films
Book (if you know what the recipient likes to read)

Hi, thanks for the advice, think I will do that, get a little goody bag together for him. a fleece lap blanket, thermal socks etc., I wouldn't mind it myself!!
