gift tax stamp duty after divorce

Hi please help, just out from divorce hearing and agreed sum of 80,000 to buy ex out of his share,, dp going to sell his appartment to give me the money to do that,, now weve just been told that
1. ill have to pay gift tax on the 80,000 from dp cos were not married and
2. ill have to pay stamp duty when ex transfers house over in 4 to 6 months as we wont be married anymore

this seems just madness and money getting thrown away when its badly needed here,, any advice or help please
 
oh sorry used to posting on other sites,, my partner thats what dp stands for
