Gift of 12k received in 2023 how to explain same to Social Welfare?

Hi there I got 12k in gift in 2023
I did lodge them in to my bank account bit by bit how will I explain that to Social welfare?
I've no confirmation in written from my family member

Dont think 12k will sound off any alarm bells. If anyone looks for explanation get confirmation from family member/s.
 
It would only be a concern to Social Welfare if you are getting a means tested payment

If you are getting a means tested payment you would have to notify Social Welfare and this might reduce or cease your payment.

You would not be required to explain the exact details of the gift.

Just to add to @S class's comment, if you are receiving a means tested social assistance payment (a opposed to a PRSI based benefit payment) then the means test is explained here:

To get a social assistance payment, you must pass a means test. A means test examines all your sources of income. However, some income is not taken into account.
