Getting rid of the unread messages at login screen

I use Win XP on the home PC with several Profiles for the family members

We all use outlook as the email client.

As is common these days we get unsolicited mail which is usually deleted without being read.

Hovever when we log off, we see at the login screen a message beside each user stating there are unread email and there isn't because they have been deleted.

Anybody know how to get rid of this notice?
