Getting rid of the subtitles (permanently)

Recently each time I switch a channel on UPC, I get subtitles. I can remove them, that's not the problem, but if I even change channels for a second and go back, they come up again. Anyone know a more permanent way of getting rid of them...my hearing's fine for now.

sorry I don't know how but have you ever used subtitles on tv3 - they are useless!!!!! I went to bother to email them, got a read receipt and no reply.

It's a relatively new thing, s'pose I'll just call them and see, it's just that I thought here might have been more reliable....thanks anyway

There's an option in the main menu to turn them off permanently

I have the same problem, its a pain in the back side. Ill see if rev87's suggestion works.
