Just doing a bit of financial housekeeping over the last few months and it occurs to me that we do not have the deeds for our house. Our mortgage has been paid off for a a number of years now so I am not sure if the original mortgage provider (AIB Finance and Leasing) would be of much help.

I checked on the https://www.landdirect.ie/ and plot is registered (freehold).

Is it just a matter of downloading a copy of the folio from landdirect.ie or are there other important documents that we should have?

Many Thanks,

Get in contact with whoever u had the mortgage with. Get your deeds back. Can be very expensive if needing to replace same.

It's worth paying for secure storage.

The state should really take care of this (for a fee) like in most countries.

Having to establish ownership based on pieces of paper in private hands is really daft.
