Getting on the Internet

Hi

My son was given a laptop and is having a problem accessing the net.

He has a connnection via UPC (WIRELESS) which is telling us that a signal is being received and that it is a good signal.

However when he tries to access the net via Internet Explorer nothing happens apart from the message "unable to connect"

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what could be the problem and a possible solution please.

Do you require a password to get on to your UPC?
Have you tried another browser?
If you are trying to connect wirelessly,have you tried a cable from the router instead?
Can other laptops in the house connect ok?
 
May also need to turn on or off the proxy server (in the advanced settings menu)
 
Hi

I have input the UPC password and as I said I can see that the connection is good with a string signal

Other Pc in the house is working

Tried Google without any luck

Try this first:

Right-click on the connection icon in the bottom-right of the screen and click Troubleshoot problems. If you can't see the connection icon, click on the little triangle and it should be in the little box that pops up. Go through the steps there and see what happens.
